Shayauna Newsom

Shayauna joined Charlotte in June of 2022. 

As the Program Director for Transition & Belonging they have the pleasure of leading our efforts to ease Niners' transition to college and support our First-Generation Niners feel pride and a sense of belonging while here and beyond. Their favorite events are during the Resource Fair during Gold Rush and First-Generation Cookout during First-Generation Celebration Week. 

As a First-Generation alum originally from Ohio, they began their journey assisting college students at the University of Mount Union where they discovered a deep love for transition and acclimation at the university level, receiving their Bachelor of Arts in English. They then pursued their Master of Arts in College Student Personnel at Bowling Green State University where they deepened their desire to ensure students belonging in all areas of Higher Education. 

Outside of work, you can find Shayauna singing at the top of their lungs, dancing, reading, researching astrology and tarot, watching horror movies, and spending time with their wife Kinsey, and cat Baggins.
