Shayauna joined the Transition & Success Initiatives team in June of 2022. As the Program Director for Transition & Belonging they have the pleasure of leading our efforts to ease Niners' transition to college and support our First-Generation Niners feel pride and a sense of belonging while here and beyond. Their favorite events are Norm's Quest during Gold Rush and First-Generation Celebration Cookout during First-Generation Celebration Week. As a First-Generation alum originally from Ohio, they began their journey assisting college students at the University of Mount Union where they discovered a deep love for transition and acclimation at the university level. They then pursued their Masters of Arts in College Student Personnel at Bowling Green State University where they deepened their desire for DEIB to be embedded in all areas of Higher Education. Outside of work, you can find Shayauna singing at the top of their lungs, dancing, reading, researching astrology and tarot, and spending time with their partner and cat Baggins.
