Friday April 19

All times are Eastern Standard Time

3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. - Intramural Water Volleyball Tournament

Location:  University Recreation Center Pool

Intramural sports are fun, recreational, and social on-campus activities designed for UNC Charlotte students. This is a one-day tournament. Individuals do not need to have experience in order to sign up for intramural sports. It's a great way to try something new.

6:00 p.m.  - Charlotte 49ers Baseball vs. Memphis

Location:  Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium

You can join the Charlotte 49ers at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium as they go against Memphis. Show your support by filling the stands, cheering with the fans, and wearing your Charlotte green. Check out the Hayes Stadium Fan Guide to make sure you have the best experience cheering on your Charlotte 49ers.

6:00 p.m.  - Charlotte 49ers Softball vs. Tulsa

Location:  Sue M. Daughtridge Stadium

You can join the Charlotte 49ers at Sue M. Daughtridge Stadium as they go against Tulsa. Show your support by filling the stands, cheering with the fans, and wearing your Charlotte green. 

7:30 p.m.  - Legally Blonde, The Musical

Location:  Anne R. Belk Theater

The Department of Theatre closes the season with a production of the Broadway hit Legally Blond the Musical. Based on the novel by Amanda Brown and the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture, Legally Blonde the Musical follows the empowering story of Elle Woods from sunny Cali sorority queen bee to legal eagle via Harvard Law School (What? Like it's hard?!?). She wins the case, finds herself, and a love she didn't initially expect, all on her own terms.

*This event requires a separate ticket purchase. Tickets are $8-$18 and can be purchased at this website. 

Faculty, staff, and students in the College of Arts + Architecture are eligible for complimentary tickets. Please log into the ticketing system to access those benefits.

Choose your own 49er adventure: activities available all day

  • Self-guided tour of the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardensfind some moments of beauty and peace while exploring this campus treasure. Information for a self-guided tour will be added to the Family Weekend app to include details to enhance your exploration of this space.
  • Discover art: visit the art gallery in the Student Union to see works created by students or walk the campus to find a favorite sculpture. 
  • Day in the life: ask your student for a tour of their residence hall, academic buildings, and favorite campus spots that your student encounters daily. This is a great glimpse of a day in their life!
  • Explore the city: alumni owned businesses are accessible via light rail and car. This is a great way to explore the city of Charlotte and support fellow Niners.
  • Check out Niners gear: the Barnes & Noble campus bookstore will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. Stop in to pick up your game day gear.

 

Saturday, April 20

All times are Eastern Standard Time

8:30 a.m. - 8:50 a.m. - Check-In

Location:  Popp Martin Student Union Atrium

Check-in will open at 8:30 a.m. in the atrium of the Popp Martin Student Union. You will be able to pick up your registration materials, find out more information about the weekend, and get ready for the day here.  

10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. - Intramural Corn hole and Softball Tournament

Location:  Northeast Recreational Field Complex

9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Niner Nation Families Serve (Service Projects)

Location:  Popp Martin Student Union

Please join as we conduct multiple service projects. Details will be provided during check-in.

12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m -  Lunch on Your Own

Location: Various On Campus Dining Options     

UNC Charlotte offers a wide variety of dining options in different locations across campus. Be sure to view their Hours of Operation before visiting your favorite location for a bite to eat.

  • 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.- How to Help a Niner: Supporting Student Mental Health

    • College is a time of transition and new experiences. Even with the exciting milestones, it is common for students to experience challenges with their mental health and wellbeing.  As families and supporters of a Niner, Center for Counseling and Physiological Services (CAPS) invites you to this brief workshop focused on learning warning signs of mental health concerns, strategies to support others, and ways to refer to campus and community resources when appropriate.
  • 3:10 p.m. - 3:35 p.m.- Block 1: Choice of 2 mini-sessions to attend

    • Unlocking Potential with the UCAE: Join the University Center for Academic Excellence (UCAE) to delve into academic support programs for students who learn differently. Led by a member of our expert team of learning specialists, this interactive presentation will provide valuable insights and practical strategies to support academic success. Don't miss this opportunity to learn how we are dedicated to ensuring every student thrives academically.
    • Beyond Loans: Navigating Personal Finance for Students and Their Families: Join Niner Finances for an enlightening session designed to empower families of college students with insight into navigating personal finance beyond student loan debt. In this session, Dr. Yeckley will delve into various financial topics and provide practical tips, real-life examples, and interactive discussions to provide insights to achieving a solid financial foundation for the future. Whether you're a parent, guardian, or supporter of a college student, this session will equip you with the tools and resources needed to promote financial wellness and success during the college years and beyond.
  • 3:45 p.m - 4:10 p.m.- Block 2: Choice of 2 mini-sessions to attend

    • Fidelity Investments®: Hey Niner Families! Join our friend Fidelity Investments® to understand how the basics of investing can be helpful for the long-term. Financial education is for everyone! Stop by with your student and learn more about the tools and resources available to Niner students!
    • Campus Activities Board: The Campus Activities Board (CAB) is the largest student programming
      organization on campus and is responsible for planning diverse, quality events for the University community.  The CAB executive board members will discuss the types of programs they offer, ways to get involved with CAB, and how they contribute to unifying the University community by planning social, cultural, educational, and recreational events that complement the University’s academic mission.
  • 4:15 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.- Family Jeopardy- Niner Style

    • Join Future Alumni Network and Transition and Success Initiatives in playing a Niner-themed, family-style game of Jeopardy as we begin to wrap up the day with a chance to win prizes, UNC Charlotte swag, and more!

Registration for all TSI sponsored events will take place on the 49er Family Hub. If you have not created an account or completed your profile, we encourage you to do so before registration to save time when registering for Spring Family Weekend.

Registration for Niner Nation Family Association (NNFA) members will begin on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.

General registration will open on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 and close Monday, April 15, 2024 at 5:00 P.M EST.

Transition & Success Initiatives will work diligently to provide requested reasonable accessibility accomodations and resources to guests registered for Spring Family Weekend. In order to provide the necessary accomodations, registrants registrants are provided a space to indicate their needs on the Spring Family Weekend registration form.

When does Spring Family Weekend take place?
Spring Family Weekend 2024 will start on Friday, April 19 and go through Saturday, April 20. 

Can I register over the phone? 
Unfortunately, you are unable to register over the phone. Registration is required online through your 49er Family Hub account.

When does Spring Family Weekend registration close?
Registration for Niner Nation Family Association (NNFA) members will begin on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.

General registration will open on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

Registration will close on Monday, April 15, 2024.

Is parking a part of my registration for Spring Family Weekend?
No, parking information and where to park will be sent out after registration closes to the primary registrant's email. 

Visitor parking rates will apply to all areas of campus on Friday, April 19. Visitor parking information can be found here on the Parking and Transportation website.

Visitor parking decks will operate at no cost on Saturday, April 20. The only exception is the CRI deck- normal visitor rates will apply.

What can guests bring to the football/baseball stadiums?
To see what guests can bring to the football/baseball stadiums, visit the Charlotte 49ers website and scroll to Game Day Information.

Any recommendation of where to stay when we visit campus?

The UNC Charlotte Marriott Hotel & Conference Center is excited to welcome 49er family and student supporters during Spring Family Weekend!  Located on UNC Charlotte’s campus, the Hotel is a good fit for overnight accommodations and as a central gathering place.  Visit us at www.unccharlottemarriott.com or call 704-978-8000 for overnight accommodations.
